Who We Are
A historian and a pointer.
LUKSIE was founded by Didi Tal, Ph.D., a researcher and writer with more than a decade of experience in historical research, archives, and public history across Europe, the United States, and beyond.
A Columbia University-trained researcher, Didi has worked with leading historical and cultural institutions, including the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Shoah Foundation, and the Memorial for the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin. She brings the rigor of a professional historian and a writer’s eye for story to every LUKSIE commission.
LUKSIE is a family mythology carried across generations.
Luksie was Didi’s great-grandfather’s German Pointer, who accompanied him while he served in an Alpine unit of the Austro-Hungarian Army during the First World War. Decades later, the family gave the same name to another beloved dog, born in 1968, Luksie II.
Luksie became part of the family mythology, a story passed from one generation to the next, still told around the dinner table more than a century later.
Every family has stories like this. Stories of courage and migration, love and loss, chance and solidarity—the choices and circumstances that brought us to where we are today.
Didi founded LUKSIE to give families an exceptional way to discover and experience those stories. Through expert historical research, bespoke journeys, and high-end genealogy keepsakes, LUKSIE brings families closer to their heritage—and to one another.
